The Hasina Regime has come to an agreement with China. They have agreed to begin the long-waited Teesta River Project with China following the so-called elections on 7 January. This project would involve thousands of Chinese workers in and around the project inside Bangladesh territory close to the Indo-Bangladesh border. The project would also be close to India's strategically important Siliguri Corridor (the "Chicken Neck"), connecting India's Northeast with the mainland. Naturally both India and most importantly America would be very annoyed/angry with the Hasina Regime for undertaking such a project that would jeopardize their strategic interests across the region. India and America don't want China's potential military presence (along with its overpowering economic presence in Bangladesh). This project would most definitely hasten the broad economic and political sanctions by America against the Hasina Regime which is being contemplated by Washington. India would be also on the same page with America with regard to adopting a hostile policy towards the Hasina Regime. This would precipitate Hasina's fall if she survives the farcical elections on 7 January 2024 || Taj Hashmi
