India is not only showing off its capabilities at the Vostok military exercises in Russia, but also at home. The country has commissioned its first domestically built aircraft carrier at the cost of $2.5 billion. Beset with delays, it took more than a decade to build. But, still an important sign of progress in India's defence manufacturing capabilities. The country's existing aircraft carrier is a 40-year-old vessel that was used by the Soviet navy. The new INS Vikrant has a capacity for 1,600 crew and 30 jets and helicopters.
