Psychologist Dr Jordan Peterson has issued a grim warning of the dangers of AI-generated fake news in the lead-up to the US presidential election.
Dr Peterson sat down with Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan to discuss the upcoming US election, the Israel-Hamas war and political activism in the entertainment world.
He warned a “well-timed” fake video of President Joe Biden or former president Donald Trump doing something reprehensible could be released hours before the election.
“People are going to have to understand more consciously that the errors that they propagate morally – the acts of wilful blindness, pretending that they're doing something other than they are doing, morally grandstanding, outright lying, or avoiding the truth,” Dr Peterson said.
“With all this technological power at her hands, the cataclysmic consequences of those moral errors are radically magnified and I don't see that there's an alternative to that.”
