Sky News host Caroline Di Russo gives a breakdown on how Tasmania-born Queen Mary of Denmark met King Frederik X.
“Quite literally in the right place at the right time,” Ms Di Russo said.
Now-Queen Mary of Denmark was an accounts manager when the two met in a Sydney bar for the 2000 Olympics, and then-Prince Frederik simply introduced himself as ‘Fred’ which led to the two hitting it off.
“Anything wonderful can happen to any of us, I guess we’re a very egalitarian society in that way, but it can absolutely happen,” Ms Di Russo said.
“Mary was working in Melbourne and obviously up in Sydney for the Olympics, she was working she was an accounts manager in an international advertising agency … she just happened to meet this man in a bar – it makes for just such a divine story.”
