Author Douglas Murray has slammed US Secretary of State Antony Blinken for pushing a “dead myth” that Israel and Hamas can come to a peace agreement in Gaza.
Mr Blinken urged Israel to take greater precautions to avoid inflicting further harm on civilians in Gaza in its ongoing war against Hamas.
He also urged Israel to ensure Palestinians are allowed to return to their homes in Gaza once conditions allow.
“The claim that he is making that there simply needs to be greater trust on both sides as it were in order to push for a two-state solution and it is within Israel’s grasp to hand the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza a sort of reputable social democratic government structure that allows them to thrive economically and socially – it is a complete fantasy,” Mr Murray said.
“Everyone can see it is a fantasy except certain people in the international arena who cling onto this very, very outdated model for dear life.”
