Drivers were forced to abandon their cars in floodwater in south east London on Tuesday evening after heavy rain caused the roads to be swamped.

Footage posted on social media showed a bus driving through the floodwater which then began flowing into the vehicle.

A number of vehicles were left abandoned in Abbey Wood because of the issue. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the scene in at 6.15pm to reach partly submerged cars.
